School Tours of York
General Information
The price for a standard tour of 1hr 30mins to 1 hour 45mins is £100. This is for a group of up to 32
children/young people maximum, accompanied by 4-6 adults.
For larger groups of more than 32 children, spread across 2 separate tours, the price is £170.
For small groups of up to 16 children/young people, on a standard tour of 1hr 30mins -1hr 45mins the price is
£70.

Roman Tour
Explore Roman York with me, as you find out about life in the fortress and the Roman town. See the towering remains of the mighty fortress, find out what it was like to be a soldier, and listen to stories of the emperors, gladiators, and even ghosts of Roman York! Includes: Fortress ruins; remains of the Roman Walls; Roman column at York Minster; Constantine statue.
Medieval tour
Step back in time to medieval York, as we explore the amazing buildings that are still here, and find out about the monks, kings, soldiers and people who used them. Visit the ruins of the North’s biggest Benedictine abbey, hear stories of York’s castle and the battles fought nearby, see the magnificent Minster and the medieval streets. Includes: York Minster; Clifford’s Tower; St Mary’s Abbey ruins; The Shambles.
Victorian Industries of York
Discover the stories of Victorian York with this tour, including the city’s famous railway and chocolate industries. We’ll also visit the hidden reminders of printing, gas lamps, and flour milling, and explore the stories of some of the quirky and useful inventions which came from 19th century York. Includes: Railway Station area; Leetham’s Mill; Stonegate; Minster area; The Shambles.
Crime and Punishment Tour
Explore the parts of York associated with the most desperate criminals. Find out what happened to Guy Fawkes, Margaret Clitherow, Dick Turpin, and others. Hear about some horrid punishments and consider some tough questions about fairness and justice!
Includes: Clifford’s Tower; Georgian gaol buildings, The Shambles, Dick Turpin’s Grave.
2000-Year History of York Tour
This tour includes a bit of everything!
See the sights of York and journey through 2000 years of the city’s history, beginning with the Roman ruins and stopping along the way to find out about Vikings, the Middle Ages, the Victorians, and more. Hear stories of the city’s inhabitants and visitors: Emperors, Kings, as well as criminals like Dick Turpin and Guy Fawkes. Discover parts of York that are hidden away, as well as the famous and impressive sights.
This tour can be customised to your needs, timings and topics, but can include: Roman ruins, The Minster, Clifford’s Tower, St Mary’s Abbey, anything from my other tours, plus anything from any other period in the 2000-year history. (Please arrange in advance).
